Shanel Regier believes that her clothing offers more than fashion to the viewer or wearer.  In fact, she prefers not use that word when discussing her work. Where fashion is characterized by a rapid recognizable patter of style change, Shanel aims to create classic garments that can last through the rapid changes in fashion. Her pieces are intended to take both the audience and wearer back through time to give an idea of what it may have been like to be a woman at the particular era. 

Regier's fashion shows are more about art and spectacle than commerce. Her often elaborate costumes offer the viewer a philosophy of dressing rather than a product to buy. She freely mines the past for inspirational pieces and in the process shares with her audience a profound awareness of the significance of what they wear.  Gen Art recognized her talent and names her a ?Fresh Face in Fashion? in the fall of 2006.
