Mel en Stel
Ilse Eriksson hails from Antwerp, Belgium. Five years of industry experience compelled her to start her own label called Mel en Stel. Those first two years manifested an array of “singular creations” constructed of “found” fabrics such as W.W.II parachutes, U.S. canvas mail bags, German youth hostel blankets, and flags from former Communist nations, to name a few. To her credit, she was not privy to any of these thefts, hence the moniker. Ilse’s Belgian sensibility is accountable for creating feminine, skillfully tailored, understated, edgy pieces that are continual yet contemporary.
